Desert Winter Wonderland

Rick Cooper, Paul Sielicki and I welcomed the new year with an eerie flight over the desert covered in snow. We have had 2 major snow storms roll through the end off 2006 absolutely covering the desert in a blanket of white! It was great to fly with Paul, who flies the same speed as me. Rick is a yellow streak in the sky with his Astra/HKS and super fast wing! his

Damien states: To All - thanks for the great feedback, much appreciated!
Dave Marsh - No issue with the carb freezing. Actually the lowest temperature recorded was 19F at around 9,000 feet. On the video I put a shot of it saying 9F - bragging rights ;-)
Paul - Yes I use my GPS. I know the landscape pretty well from flying over it so much, so I never feel that I am lost. On this flight I was never more than 35 miles from my airport.
K9SB - I used Don Henleys boys of summer song. My friend Frank made the windshield. A piece of plastic with a couple of u clamps that slide onto the down tube. January 8, 2007, 11:57 pm

Unknown states: Very nice. Thanks for the show January 8, 2007, 9:16 pm
Daniel states: great job but I'll bet Spencer's agent is complaining. Hope you have a great New Year with lots aof adventures. January 8, 2007, 9:10 pm
Paul states: Do you use GPS for navigation? You seem to fly where there are no main roads or rivers to follow. It looks pretty much the same below when covered with snow. January 8, 2007, 8:54 pm
Karey states: Another great job Damian! Up here in Minneapolis, we STILL don't have enough snow to put our skis on.; The lakes are barely frozen enough for the icefisherman so we are not landing our trikes on the lakes. January 8, 2007, 6:53 pm
Frode states: Nice
Here on the Norwegian westcoast we have had 72 days of rain in a row!! Should I use my runway these days it would be on floats...

George McCullough states: Another incredible piece of video Damien. Like you......I love the desert minus the snow. The snow gives the entire landscape a much more ominous look about it. I currently live in New Hampshire and never did I think I would see more snow in the desert than here at home this year. It is a strange winter....bare ground. Keep up the excellent videos. January 8, 2007, 7:37 am

Thanks again for another nice video! January 8, 2007, 12:26 am

Frankie states: Wow, that looked cold. Good job on the edited video. By this time, I had survived two trips in the blizzard, one to Wilcox, Arizona and one to Farmington, New mexico. I had just about enough of the white stuff to play in it again. Marie is the 70 old woman care taker of the airport and resturant. I think Marie was hitting the bottle again or her hands got too cold without the Jerry Pridmore boxing mittons stuffed with chemicals. January 7, 2007, 6:17 pm
